Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — we're happy to work to breed-standard styles, practical pet trims, or a style you have in mind. Reference photos are always helpful. Our groomers will advise if a requested style isn't achievable given your dog's current coat condition.

We work with many dogs who are anxious about grooming. Please let us know about your dog's temperament when booking so we can plan accordingly. We may recommend shorter introductory visits before attempting a full groom.

Cats

Full Cat Grooming

Cat grooming requires a fundamentally different approach. Cats respond differently to water, drying, and prolonged handling, and benefit from a quieter, calmer environment. Our cat grooming service is designed with these factors in mind.

Priya, our cat grooming specialist, leads all feline appointments. She has completed specific training in low-stress cat handling techniques. All cat grooming takes place in a designated area of our studio, separated from dog grooming activity.

What's Included
  • Pre-appointment assessment and temperament check
  • Thorough brush-out and coat inspection
  • Bath with cat-specific shampoo and conditioner
  • Careful, low-stress drying
  • Coat trimming as requested for long-haired breeds
  • Nail trim
  • Ear check and gentle outer ear cleaning
A note on cats: Not all cats tolerate full professional grooming. For very stressed cats, we may recommend a partial service or shorter introductory appointment to build familiarity over time. Your cat's welfare always takes priority.

Bath and brush grooming service
Dogs & Cats

Bath & Brush

The bath and brush service focuses on cleaning and coat maintenance without a full trim or haircut. It's an ideal option for dogs and cats with shorter coats that don't need frequent cutting, or as a maintenance appointment between full grooms for longer-coated pets.

The service includes a thorough shampoo and conditioning treatment, professional blow-dry, and a complete brush-out. We pay attention to coat and skin health throughout, and will share any observations with you after the appointment.

When it's useful: Regular bath and brush appointments between full grooms help maintain coat health, reduce shedding at home, and keep your pet comfortable between longer grooming sessions.

Professional nail trimming service
Dogs & Cats

Nail Trimming

Nail trimming is among the most commonly overlooked aspects of pet care, yet it significantly affects your pet's comfort. Overgrown nails alter how a dog or cat distributes weight on their feet and can cause postural discomfort over time.

We offer nail trimming as a standalone service for clients who need it between grooming appointments. Our groomers use patient, careful technique, especially for nervous or reactive pets during nail trims.

How often? Most dogs need nails trimmed every 4-8 weeks depending on activity level and the surfaces they walk on. Cats generally need nail trims every 4-6 weeks. If you can hear clicking on hard floors, the nails are overdue.

Ear cleaning service for dogs and cats

Ear Cleaning

Our ear cleaning service focuses on the outer ear canal — the visible, accessible portion of the ear. This maintenance service removes visible debris, excess wax buildup, and moisture that can accumulate between professional visits or after bathing.

We use gentle, pet-safe ear cleaning solutions and cotton materials appropriate for outer ear maintenance. Our groomers are trained to recognize signs that may warrant a veterinary check and will let you know if we observe anything worth having looked at.

Important note: Professional ear cleaning is a surface-level maintenance service. Concerns about odor, discharge, excessive scratching, or head shaking should be evaluated by your veterinarian, as these may indicate a medical issue beyond the scope of grooming care.

De-shedding treatment for dogs
Dogs

De-Shedding Service

De-shedding treatments are designed for dogs with thick double coats or breeds known for heavy seasonal shedding. The process uses specialized brushes and tools to reach beneath the topcoat and remove loose undercoat that hasn't yet shed naturally.

A professional de-shedding session combines a specialized bath using products formulated to loosen undercoat, thorough professional drying, and a detailed brush-out with undercoat rakes and de-shedding tools. Results often include significantly reduced shedding around the home for several weeks after the appointment.

Breeds That Benefit Most

Double-coated breeds such as German Shepherds, Golden Retrievers, Labradors, Huskies, Samoyeds, Bernese Mountain Dogs, and Corgis typically see the most benefit. Any dog with a dense coat can benefit from periodic de-shedding treatments.

Seasonal timing: De-shedding is particularly valuable during spring and autumn when double-coated dogs undergo their major seasonal coat changes. Booking during these periods can meaningfully reduce shedding around your home.

Puppy introduction grooming session

Puppy Introduction Grooming

A puppy's first professional grooming experience sets the tone for all future appointments. Our puppy introduction service is specifically designed to make that first experience as positive and low-stress as possible. The goal is not a perfect groom — it's a puppy who leaves feeling comfortable and safe.

James, who leads our puppy appointments, works at each puppy's individual pace. Sessions may be shorter than a regular adult groom and focus on building familiarity with the sounds, equipment, and handling involved in grooming before progressing to the full process over subsequent visits.

What to Expect

A typical puppy introduction includes a gentle warm bath, careful drying at appropriate volume and temperature, a brief brush-out, nail trim, and ear check. We take breaks as needed and never force a puppy to continue if they're showing significant distress.

Vaccination guidance: Please confirm your puppy's vaccination status with your vet before booking their first grooming appointment. We're happy to discuss appropriate timing with you when you call or email to book.

Senior dog grooming care
Senior Pets

Senior Pet Grooming

Older dogs and cats have different grooming needs and tolerances. Joints may be stiffer, skin more sensitive, and stamina for longer appointments reduced. Our senior grooming service takes all of these factors into account and adjusts the process accordingly.

We allow more time for senior appointments to take breaks, adjust positioning to minimize discomfort, and monitor how your pet is feeling throughout. We also pay close attention to skin condition, which can change significantly with age.

Our Adjustments for Senior Pets
  • Extended appointment time with built-in breaks
  • Careful repositioning to accommodate arthritis or stiffness
  • Extra attention to skin condition and any new changes
  • Gentle dryer temperature and lower volume settings
  • Shorter appointments if a full groom is too tiring
Please let us know: If your senior pet has known health conditions, recent surgery, is on medication affecting their skin or coat, or has specific sensitive areas, please share this information when you book.
